Seismic shifts… right under our noses.
From Facebook and Instagram to Snapchat and TikTok…
From Converse to combat boots…
How is it that your shy middle-schooler, now in high school, dresses completely differently, dyes their hair, and has friends you don’t know about?
How did that once-confident become an insecure, withdrawn, angry teenager?
Is this “normal” behavior??
It’s hard to know as a parent because you don’t have an objective look at the situation.
Plus, the pressures and expectations on your child are different from those you were raised with.
And when they’re challenging your authority, it’s hard to see the picture clearly.
Even if you did, it might be hard for you to accept.
This is where I come in.
Whether your teen’s struggling with anxiety, depression, family dynamics, school issues, or behavioral problems, we’re here for them.
We’re here to speak their language, hold their confidence, and gain their trust.
We’ll recognize their unique strengths and help them capitalize on them.
We’ll help your teen find their voice – one that’s respectful, confident, and authentic.
Here’s what we’ll do…
We use various techniques with teens, like games, expressive therapy, journaling, or role-playing.
We’ll work together to define their goals. We want them to be clear on why they’re here and what they’re working toward.
I use a solution-focused model that keeps your teen focused on moving forward and achieving their desired future.
If they’ve experienced trauma, it may take more time to connect the dots between their current behavior and the past. But we have special strategies to safely unlock those doors and make new memories that keep them future-focused.
We’ll also focus on learning and practicing new skills with family and peers – at school and in the community.
Teens understand “therapy.”
They often seek it out on their own and are usually open to learning new life strategies. That’s important… because therapy won’t work if it’s just someone else’s idea.
I have lots of experience with teens. As a former school counselor, I understand the resources and support they need to thrive and secure a brighter future.
Whether we see each other for four weeks or four months, they can make progress!
We encourage therapy for the whole family. It all starts with a simple phone call. Reach out today for your free consultation: (770) 696-6560.
